Knowledge Net

What is KnowledgeNET?

KnowlegdeNET is a web-based learning management system that allows students and teachers to log on to privately. Teachers can place information, links, photos and other learning resources for their students to use, either while at school or by logging on from a home computer with an internet connection. Students are given a username and password by their teacher. The only people who have access to KnowledgeNET are those who attend Freemans Bay School and have been given an individual user ID and password. This is to ensure the safety and security of the children and their work.

While we have had access to KnowledgeNET for a number of years, its full capacity to support learning and home/school communication has not been utilised. With the assistance of the enthusiastic staff at Freemans Bay, we are making a final attempt to utilise KnowledgeNET in some of the ways for which it has been designed.

Ideally, KnowledgeNET is principally designed to allow:

  • An online window into your child's classroom.
  • Efficient and effective communication.
  • An invaluable teaching resource to easily and effectively add content and new resources that cah be shared for use in online classroom.
  • Showcase learning achievements.
  • Access digital learning objects to create high quality, effective units of work.
  • Access to a complete research centre including libraries or reviewed websites.

The bigger picture is that KnowledgeNET provides teachers with additional tools to facilitate learning in an environment where students are active participants in what and how they learn. It is aiding our students to become skilled, knowledgeable, and self-directed learners.
